I have yet to conduct any extensive research on Dallas Pottery, the main emphasis of this page is to make others aware of its existence and hopefully allow anyone with further information on this little known pottery an avenue to share it. If you have any further information or examples of Dallas Pottery please share them with us by following the hyperlink below. Due credit will be given.
Dallas Pottery was, as the name implies, located in Dallas Texas While I have been unable to locate any primary source material on Dallas potteries; several of those I have interviewed and one document state that Mr. A. E. Wilbur formed Dallas Pottery in 1920 and that it was located on Davis Street between Hampton and Edgefield. The demise of Dallas Potteries due to a fire in 1922. In the same year, following the fire, Mr. Wilbur moved several block down Davis and built Ideal Pottery. This might explain why examples of Dallas Potteries are so hard to find today. With a mere two (2) years, or less, in production one can assume that not many of such utilitarian items yet remain.
The two examples of Dallas Pottery that are pictured below are in my collection. One is an 8 gallon and the other is a 10 gallon with a lid. I am not sure that the 10 gallon lid was not married to this piece later in life by a helpful dealer or owner. Dallas Pottery used at least two different company logo stamps during its lifetime. The main difference is that one stamp has "As In Dallas" across the center while the other stamp does not.
Unfortunately this is about the extent of my knowledge of Dallas Pottery at this time. Book mark this site and return often to see what has been uncovered concerning this 20th century Dallas Texas production pottery.
