Unmarked piece by Whites Pottery of Utica, NY. Made between 1890-1907. Pottery canteen stands 7 1/2" tall, its 6 1/2" wide and 2 3/4" deep. W Condition of the piece is very good for it's age. The bail handle is missing and appears to have been gone for quite some time. There is a small four way separation in the center of the design and three other small lines in the same area. Some lines show some glaze in them. Having owned and sold alot of Whites pottery over the years I'd say it was caused by shrinkage over the years or done in the making. The piece is tight and sounds it when tapping it with your finger. The remaining condition of the piece is near mint. No glaze loss. No cracks. No chips. No repairs. Retains deep crisp cobalt blue color highlights over gray background.
